Primary Survey - Danger Response Airway Breathing - DRAB

Primary Survey - DRAB. The primary survey is a fast and systematic way to find and treat any life threatening conditions in a priority order. . . . and don't forget to shout for HELP!
D - Danger
Ensure that the casualty, any bystanders and you are safe
R - Response
Quickly check to see if the casualty is conscious. Gently shake or tap the casualtys shoulders and ask loudly "are you alright?"
A - Airway
Identify and treat any life-threatening airway conditions (such as choking or suffocation)
If the casualty is unconscious, tilt the head back and lift the chin to open the airway
When the airway is clear/open, continue to breathing
B - Breathing
Identify and treat any life threatening breathing problems (such as Asthma)
If the casualty is unconscious and not breathing normally, perform CPR
